The bidding notice is expected to be published by the Municipal Executive in the coming weeks. After contracting and g the service order, the company that won the public tender will have 20 months to carry out the work.

In all, R$ 13.383.626,65 million will be invested – funds from the National Civil Aviation Fund (FNAC) – for the implementation of runway lanes and safety areas. The initial intention of the municipality is to maintain the regular operation of two-engine commercial aircraft (ATR72) at the terminal and, in the future, also jet aircraft.

Improvements to the airport terminal are provided for in Term of Commitment No. 08/2020, signed between MInfra and the Municipality of Caçador. Under the agreement, the Union assumed 100% of the resources needed for the work and the local Executive, the expropriations – of about 450 thousand square meters – and the elaboration of the projects, contracted with the Brazilian Company of Airport Infrastructure (Infraero).

IMPROVEMENTS - Parallel to the earthworks for the implementation of runway lanes and security areas, there will be an expansion of the airport's heritage area and drainage works and the construction of a new operational fence will be carried out.

Today restricted to 1.625 meters, the landing and take-off area will incorporate the space for the headland setbacks, starting to operate with a total of 1.800 meters. As a result, Caçador airport will have one of the largest runways in Santa Catarina.

The work is essential to boost the economy of the municipality, a regional industrial hub in the midwest of Santa Catarina, and with a vocation to become an important logistical junction in the south of the country.
