The mayor of Forquilhinha, José Cláudio Gonçalves, Neguinho participated in a meeting with technicians from the State Secretariat for Infrastructure, in Florianópolis, to discuss the project to revitalize the Diomício Freitas Airport.
“At an important meeting, I got the news that the adjustments were approved by Infrastructure and the bidding process should be forwarded in the coming weeks and, after the formalities, sign the service order that is scheduled for November. An important investment in the revitalization that will include improving the runway, fence, lighting and the purchase of equipment that will provide better operating conditions. A great achievement for Forquilhinha, in the Amrec region, in the south of Santa Catarina, with a large investment by the state government”, comments the mayor.
The works at Diomício Freitas include asphalt recovery of the landing and takeoff runway, taxiway, access to hangars and the aircraft parking lot, as well as readjustment of the runway strip, fencing and implementation of an inspection lane.
After this stage, the State Government also plans to install an automatic meteorological station that will allow the resumption of instrument flights at the airport, allowing landing and takeoff operations even in adverse weather conditions.
The total investment will be in the order of R$ 12,9 million, according to the city hall.
