FAB's first Gripen F-39 should make its debut flight in August

As planned by Saab and informed by the reportage by Fantástico about Gripen do Brasil. The first FAB Gripen F-39 should make its maiden flight this August, thus marking a long waiting period, but also one of many studies both on the Swedish and Brazilian sides.

After this first flight, several tests will take place with the fighter so that all safety certifications are achieved.

With the due tests completed, it is expected that this first fighter be delivered to FAB in 2021. Also scheduled for that same year is the start of construction of the F-39 fighters in national territory and the expected date for these be delivered to FAB in the year 2024. Another three Gripens NG destined for the Swedish Air Force already made their first flights and are in the testing phase.

The main focus of investment in the production of the fighter is the transfer of technology. The presence of Brazilian pilots and engineers in Sweden is proof of this, as well as the participation of Brazilian companies in the construction of the fighter are also part of this.

The Gripens NG (or F-39, within the FAB), will have a nationally manufactured WAD screen by AEL Sistemas, on this screen the main information about the fighter's flight, as well as armament issues are available to the pilot and are easier to access.

Still in relation to the WAD screen, there will be an inverse transfer of technology, because the Swedish Air Force, which will also have the Gripen F-39, became interested in the AEL Sistemas display system.
