O Falcon 6X #3 is equipped with a complete interior and will be used for cabin design validation. The aircraft completed a two-hour maiden flight from the final assembly plant at Bordeaux-Mérignac to its flight test facility at Istres on June 24, climbing to flight level 400 and accelerating to a Mach cruise speed. 0,85.
The first 6X flew on March 10th and the second on April 30th. The two aircraft have accumulated more than 130 hours of test flight time, at an average of two to three flights per week, and the envelope expansion is now nearing completion.
“This latest flight is yet another sign of the good progress we have been making with the 6X test program”, said Eric Trappier, President and CEO of Dassault Aviation.
“We have been consistently impressed with the flight and handling performance of the 6X and the reliability of the aircraft's systems.”
Aircraft #3 is equipped with the award-winning Falcon 6X interior, including in-flight entertainment and communications systems. In addition to testing this equipment, the aircraft will be used to evaluate environmental characteristics and temperature control and validate the cabin's acoustic systems, which, along with those on the ultra-long-range Falcon 8X trijet, are expected to set the industry benchmark.
“The 6X is shaping up to become one of our great success stories, a new benchmark in flight performance and comfort”, said Philippe Duchateau, chief test pilot at Dassault, in a recent summary of flight test activities. “It is a real joy to fly.”
A fourth aircraft will also be equipped with a full cabin, currently being installed in Mérignac. It will conduct a two-month global endurance flight campaign with the aim of ensuring that all 6X systems are fully mature upon entry into service.
Production of additional units is in full swing, with aircraft #10 scheduled to be on the final assembly line in early July.
The Falcon 6X has received several prestigious design awards, including the Red Dot for cabin design. The aircraft was recognized this month as the “Best of the Best” in aviation by luxury magazine Robb Report, which noted:
"Dassault's newest aircraft combines size with technology to create an award-worthy new class of business jet."
