In the consolidated for the months of July, August and September, Timbro recorded growth of 135% in revenue and 171% in the volume of aircraft import operations, compared to the same period of 2021. In comparison with the second quarter of 2022, the 3rd Quarter was 11% higher in revenue and 43% higher in volume

According to Pedro Ferreira, head of the Aviation area at Timbro, “Timbro's aircraft import is increasingly diversified, whether by type of aircraft, such as jets, turboprops and helicopters, or by type of customer, ranging from air charter companies that are reinforcing their fleet to businessmen, rural producers and financial market professionals who need to move quickly across the national territory”.

Timbro's aviation area is responsible for all procedures for importing an executive aircraft. The company s the buyer of a new or semi-new plane or helicopter in structuring the operation, searching for the best credit solution, managing the acquisition, delivery to the exporter, transfer and nationalization with the competent bodies. The buyer, after indicating his choice and defining the flow and form of payment, only needs to receive the aircraft ready for use at his own or trusted airfield.

Since the foundation of Timbro, 12 years ago, the results in aircraft imports had not been so expressive. The performance is the result of investments made from 2021 onwards, when Timbro tripled its specialized aviation team.

“Today we are in all aviation segments to import aircraft. If last year was the time to prepare for the strong demand in the executive aviation segment, in 2022 we will consolidate ourselves as one of the main importers of aircraft and helicopters in the country”, explains Philipe Figueiredo, Timbro's Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

In the year, with the results of the 3rd Quarter, Timbro has already sured the results of the entire 2021, both in revenue and in the volume of operations carried out. for philippe, “The good performance also occurs because Timbro operates in both foreign trade flows, with imports and exports, bringing solutions to customers such as the use of commodities to pay for the acquisition of an aircraft”.

LABACE and high demand for helicopters

The positive numbers for the third quarter were impacted by the deals closed during Labace and by the strong demand for helicopters.

Last August, after two years, Labace, the main fair in the executive aviation sector in Latin America, was held at Congonhas Airport. With its own stand, Timbro signed nine negotiations to import aircraft, which exceeded R$ 170 million in revenue, with deliveries ranging from 2022 to 2025. In addition to the signed transactions, the Timbro team started 24 new conversations to import aircraft.

“Returning to Congonhas was extremely positive. We were able to close some deals that had already started at the fair and, at the same time, start and conclude deals with new customers. This edition of Labace represented an extremely positive return, at a time when the aviation market is heated”, explains Peter.

In addition to Labace, the period between July and September saw a high demand for helicopters. Negotiations for the import of 3 Bell Helicopter helicopters were concluded in the 10rd Quarter, ranging from 05-seat models, such as the Bell 505, to larger aircraft, for 08 occupants, such as the Bell 429.

The greatest demand was for businessmen and investors in the financial market, who need to circulate in the city of São Paulo and also quickly reach airports that serve executive aviation to, from there, take off to visit assets in remote locations.

“After the concessions at Campo de Marte and Congonhas airports, the consolidation of Catarina Airport in the interior and the new boarding area for executive aviation in Cumbica, we realized that the market is getting ready to expand the offer of landings and takeoffs in the region. metropolitan area of São Paulo”, explains Peter.

For the executive, “The demand for executive aviation will continue to increase, due to the new commercial borders of the country, which has continental proportions and low commercial aviation service. The terminals furthest from the city's financial center, such as Campo de Marte, Guarulhos and Catarina, will be essential to complement Congonhas, which is the largest hub in the country, but has limited slots. And to get to these airports quickly, more helicopters will be needed. We are already feeling this increased demand for rotary wings.”

Improvement in expectation of 2022

With the results of the 3rd Quarter, Timbro's projection for the closing of the year 2022 exceeds by 88% what was achieved in 2021, in of revenue. Market diversification and new demands will keep executive aviation heated in Brazil, according to Timbro executives.

“On 15 days of October, for example, we had the best revenue generation of the year in aircraft imports, compared to the other months of the year. In other words, demand continues to rise in this fourth quarter”, advances Peter.

According to the executive, “Three factors indicate that the warming that started at the beginning of the pandemic will continue in the medium term. Firstly, fleet renewals by charter companies and even aircraft owners. Second, the long wait for the delivery of aircraft reserved with the manufacturers, which heats up the semi-new market, whose delivery is faster. And, finally, the new needs that arise, such as the use of helicopters to go to different airports in São Paulo”.

As for Philipe, the diversification of models will continue to grow: “While turboprops and piston aircraft continue to be preferred by entrants in the agribusiness segment, there is an increasing demand for agricultural aircraft, light jets that operate on unpaved runways, large jets with greater autonomy and helicopters to reach flight terminals. In the near future, eVTOLs and drones should expand this range of options”.
