Top Gun: Maverick exceeds 5 million tickets sold in Brazil, and breaks a world revenue record

With a theatrical release extended due to its success with audiences, Top Gun: Maverick is hitting a new box office record, closing in on being the fifth highest in U.S. movie history.

The film, starring Tom Cruise again, has earned $1,42 billion by the end of August in theaters around the world, with a good chunk of that revenue coming from the US and Europe.

In Brazil, Top Gun: Maverick sured the mark of 5 million tickets sold in Brazil, and can still be found on display in some cinemas. In our country alone, Paramount, the film's producer, raised BRL 109,7 million, the company's highest amount for a film shown in Brazil.

The amount collected at the box office also shows that it was an excellent decision by Paramount to release the film in the post-pandemic. Top Gun: Maverick it was scheduled to premiere in 2020, but the risk of contamination by the coronavirus delayed its arrival in theaters several times.

Paramount had to shell out $11374 for every hour of flight on each F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter. The payment was made to the US Navy, as compensation for the use of the aircraft. For pilot training footage the US Navy does not charge this compensation.

The total budget for the production of the feature film was US$ 152 million.
