According to information from Band News, on July 21, two jets from the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) traveled to Rio de Janeiro, with the purpose of carrying out a transport flight for the Ministers of Public Security and Mines and Energy.
The big problem, according to official FAB documents accessed by Band, is that in addition to picking up the ministers in Rio de Janeiro, something that is in accordance with the law, the jets moved from Galeão Air Force Base to Santos Airport. Dumont, solely to pick up the ministers, and meet their preferences, who made the request to board the Santos Dumont.
This requirement generated a cost 30 times higher than the cost of a taxi to travel between the airports, which are approximately 18 kilometers apart.
The additional cost is due to the size of the aircraft, a VC-99, known in the civil aviation market as the ERJ-145, an aircraft that in its normal configuration in economy class is capable of carrying 45 engers, in the FAB the aircraft can carry 12 engers . The cost of a taxi between the two airports is just R$54.
The ministers still used two aircraft, for individual transport, from Rio de Janeiro to Brasília, generating a doubled cost, since the two (Moreira Franco and Raul Jungmann) went to the same destination.
