UAC delivers the first IL-76MD-90A to the Russian Ministry of Defense

The first military transport aircraft IL-76MD-90A, manufactured in accordance with the requirements of the Russian Ministry of Defense, was put into operation.

The procedure took place in Ulyanovsk, the aircraft transfer certificates were signed by the commander of the military unit Vadim Dyrdin, managing director of JSC UAC-TS Vladimir Semenov, managing director of JSC Aviastar-SP Vasily Dontsov. 

The event was also attended by Lieutenant General Vladimir Benediktov, Commander of the Russian Military Air Transport Directorate, JSC UAC, Vice President of Air Transport, Alexey Rogozin, Director General of the PJSC, and Sergey Morozov, Governor of the Ulyanovsk.

For his part, Vladimir Benedict noted: “Actually, this is a new aircraft. All those who create and create the IL-76MD-90A will have a lot of work, since the IL-76 line is the engine of all aviation progress in the Russian Federation. ”

Previously, during ground and flight tests, the compliance of the aircraft that received serial number 0109 with the technical conditions of control, acceptance and delivery of the Il-76MD-90A aircraft was confirmed.

This is the first aircraft built according to the task list of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. The previous IL-76MD-90A with factory number 0108 was produced in 2015.

During testing, several changes were made to the requirements for the aircraft, which required substantial design modifications.

The IL-76MD-90A under serial number 0110 is currently completing flight tests and is also preparing to be transferred to customer Russia. To date, a promising Il-78M-90A tanker is also being tested in Ulyanovsk.

In total, in 2019, it is planned to deliver 6 new transport workers to the customer, which should qualitatively improve the capabilities of the Military Transport Aviation of the Armed Forces of Russia. The Il-76MD-90A is the second generation of the famous Il-76 aircraft. It received more powerful PS-90A-76 engines that meet ICAO noise standards.

The new aircraft gained an increase in troop and cargo delivery capacity and range. Thus, the possibility of delivering loads was increased from 52 tons to up to 60 tons. In addition, the IL-76MD-90A can carry 126 paratroopers with equipment, or 145 personnel in the single-deck version and 225 in the double-deck version.

The aircraft is capable of transporting and parachuting modern BMD, BTRD, SAU and other equipment of airborne troops. The second-generation heavy transporter received a new flight navigation complex, an automatic control system, a communication complex and a glass cockpit (on the pilot's dashboard there are six multifunctional digital screens that display all the information necessary for controlling the aircraft ).

The equipment meets all modern requirements for aircraft avionics and significantly increases flight safety, navigation and landing accuracy.
