USA and Viracopos close partnership to donate safety equipment

The Transportation Security istration (TSA), an agency of the US Department of Homeland Security, and Viracopos International Airport will sign on Friday, September 2nd, a memorandum of understanding for the donation of security equipment to Campinas airport.

The event will take place at the airport itself and will be attended by the US Consul General in São Paulo, David Hodge; the TSA attaché in Brasilia, Tere schi; from the CEO of Concessionária Aeroportos Brasil Viracopos, of Viracopos Airport, Gustavo Müssnich.

 The g of the memorandum is the first step towards the donation of state-of-the-art safety equipment that will be used at inspection points and international transfers. The donation will be funded by the US Department of State's Office of Counterterrorism, with oversight and approval from the Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SAC).

The agreement includes the donation of a body scanner (Advance Imaging Technology) and dual vision X-ray, as well as virtual, classroom and on-the-job training for operators. The project reinforces the partnership between Brazil and the United States and aims to increase safety and reduce risks in international enger transport.

The expectation is that the new equipment will be installed and operational in the second half of 2023.
