A Virgin Australia Boeing 737-800 flying VA-148 from Queenstown (New Zealand) to Melbourne (Australia) had to divert the flight after one of the engines ingested a bird during takeoff. The incident happened this Monday (17).
A video that is circulating on social media shows the moment one of the engines starts and emits several flames after ingesting a bird.

Faced with the unexpected situation, the crew leveled the plane at an altitude of 12.000 feet (approx. 3.658 m), making an unscheduled landing in Invercargill (New Zealand) after 45 minutes of takeoff, as reported on the Portal Avherald. To date, the aircraft remains on the ground for mechanical inspection and possible engine repairs.
