Also known as a WAD - Wide Area Display, which is about 19×8 inches and capable of touch commands (touchscreen), it is capable of receiving input from multifunctional keys, touchscreen or external interfaces. It is the main source of all flight and mission information in the cockpit.

AEL Systems supplied the entire Gripen visual suite, such as the Wide Area Display (WAD), Head-Up Display (HUD) and Helmet Mounted Display (HMD).

Sweden also chose to incorporate WAD into its jets, standardizing with the Brazilian model. All components will be produced in Brazil by AEL.

It is estimated that this aircraft will make its first flight in August this year, in Sweden, and be delivered to the FAB in 2021, when the first units will be received in Anápolis (GO), where Wing 2 is located.

In all, the FAB will have 36 Gripen fighter units, with some fighter units being built by Embraer and will have technology transfer, where technicians from Brazil and Sweden will be able to develop technologies.
