According to defense world website A study to resolve the various issues linked to this project is under way, however, no details have been released.

The logistics combined with the studies to transform the Vietnamese MiG 21 into unmanned drones is not easy, starting with the on-board technology, which is quite old and the MiGs do not have a fly-by-wire system, for example.

Vietnamese MiG-21s were retired in 2010, some were grounded, but most are still stored on hangers across the country.

Another factor is the ability of the Asian country to make such modifications to its fighters, according to the Defense Wolrd website.

However, examples of other countries that have turned their fighter jets into drones, which may be useful to the country. It is the case of the USA that has the QF-16 drone, which consists of the pilotless Fighting Falcon fighter.
