Vitória Airport (ES) hosted its first Spotter Day on July 18 (Monday). The event, which welcomes aviation-loving photographers to areas normally restricted to an airport to take photos of operations and aircraft, was attended by the spotter groups TMA VIX, from Vitória, and Spotter Clube MG, whose traveled from Belo Horizonte exclusively to attend the event.
The spotters' afternoon began with a visit to the new control tower of the Vitória Telecommunications and Air Traffic Service Provider Station (EPTA), led by air traffic coordinator Revan Berger, who gave a brief presentation on equipment and procedures. From the top of the tower, in the control room, the first clicks began to be fired, recording landings and takeoffs. The spotters then headed to one of the sides of the runway to continue the photo and video session, in a position predetermined by Infraero.
“We would like to thank the staff at Vitória Airport for their hospitality and willingness to assist us at this event. We know how much work it takes to organize and take responsibility for an event like this,” said Eduardo Cabrera Júnior, an air traffic professional and Infraero employee who works in the Air Traffic Coordination Department at Pampulha Airport and is a member of the Spotter Clube MG group.
The organization and management of the 07st Spotter Day at Vitória Airport were carried out by the Operational Management and Security departments and by the Air Traffic, Traffic, Operational Security and Institutional Communication, Press and Ombudsman coordinators.
