A Boeing and AerCap today announced the delivery of the 100th Boeing 737-800 converted to a freighter (Converted Freighter – BCF) contracted to the largest lessor in the world, AerCap. The 737th aircraft was converted into Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co. Ltd., home of the first 800-XNUMXBCF conversion line.
AerCap Cargo leased the aircraft to GOL Linhas Aéreas, as part of GOLLOG's growth strategy and logistics solution, GOL's logistics business unit. GOL will operate the freighter for a Latin American e-commerce company.
“We are very grateful to be a part of this significant milestone with our partners at Boeing,” said Rich Green, head of AerCap Cargo. “Since the launch of the 737-800BCF with Boeing in 2016, the e-commerce market has grown at a phenomenal pace with increased demand from retail businesses. Thanks to its stability and reliability, the 737-800BCF is becoming a workhorse for express air transport and e-commerce networks.”
In 2016, AerCap Cargo was the launch customer for Boeing's 737-800BCF program. Today, AerCap Cargo has a larger fleet of 737-800BCF with 65 firm orders and nine options.
Since the launch of the program, Boeing has five global capacity plants in three countries for converting the 737-800BCF convertible.
With up to 20% less fuel consumption and CO2 protection per ton, 737-800BCF operators are transporting more payload with less fuel. The 737-800BCF fleet in service has logged more than 70.000 flights with an average utilization of 7 hours, more than double the typical utilization of older generation freighters in the same size category.
The 737-800BCF has more than 250 orders and commitments from more than 20 customers.
