With Low Cost model, Globalia is focused on Avianca Brasil slots

Avianca Brasil slots are increasingly popular. A few days after losing their space in Congonhas and Santos Dumont, the airlines that are already in the market and even those interested are competing for the next auction of ANAC slots.

just as stated in an interview by Aeroflap with the Director of ANAC, Ricardo Fenelon, published on Youtube, the allocation of slots is done as follows by ANAC:

  • 50% of slots available to companies that are already in the market
  • 50% for companies that are entering the market

Logically, the biggest beneficiary of this regulation is Globalia, which is now starting its operations, and does not have flights in Congonhas and Santos Dumont, nor the right to use the space.

Globalia may have the right to up to 3,5% of space in Congonhas, equivalent to 50% of Avianca Brasil's share in the area, which was approximately 7%.

Meanwhile, the four companies that have shown interest, GOL, LATAM, Azul and aredo, should share 3,5% of Congonhas Airport's handling, leaving little for each one.

The president of the Spanish group, Juan José Hidalgo, already declared this week that the operations should be carried out in the Low Cost style, that is, low costs, the company should opt for a new and standardized fleet, with low wages. It is a model that Azul follows in parts, except for the standardization of the fleet.

, Low Cost does not mean that we will have a Low Fare company, that is, a low fare company, something that no company, except LATAM Brasil, has proposed to do in the Brazilian market.

This week, the superintendent of Air Services Monitoring at ANAC, Ricardo Catanant, said to the press: “Only after obtaining the Operational Certificate can the company operate in the country. Globalia has already ed you to present documents and understand the requirements to which markets they will operate and what fee to charge, details that are part of the business plan needed to invest in Brazil. Even the company has already shown interest in the airlift and in the lease of slots that Avianca Brasil will return. It is a Brazilian company with foreign capital that will start operating in the country”.

While the three main companies exchange barbs due to the fight for slots in Congonhas, Globalia is still putting together its business plan in Brazil, and also plans to announce the name of its company in Brazil in just a few months.
