The Academia da Força Aérea is a military institution of higher education that was born in 1941, in that year what is now the AFA was called Escola de Aeronáutica and was based in Campo dos Afonso/RJ.

In 1969 the then Aeronautics School was renamed AFA and in 1971 AFA moved to Pirassununga/SP.

During these 80 years, thousands of aviators and intendants graduated from the institution. Future FAB aviator officers graduate in istration and aeronautical sciences, yes the AFA is a higher education.

The life of future aviators begins with flights in the classic universal T-25, this plane teaches the basics of piloting and flying in formation, something typical of military aviation. In the fourth and final year, the aviator cadets fly the T-27 toucan, which since the 80s has been in charge of training FAB aviators.

The AFA is also the home of the Esquadrilha da Fumaça, the EDA (Esquadrão de Demonstração Aérea), which is based in the academy and from there they leave for presentations throughout Brazil and the world. The presence of the EDA in the academy is certainly a great incentive for the young cadets who study there.

  • Cessna T-37C;
