The long-awaited continuation of the film “Top Gun” gained news this week, after the visit of actor Tom Cruise who played the fighter pilot of F-14 Maverick, in the first version of the film in 1986.
This week an F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter with a special painting on the vertical stabilizer, which makes a reference to the traditional School of Weapons and Combat of the American Navy, better known as "Top Gun" and a writing below the pilot's canopy with the name: Capt Peter Mitchell “Maverick”, strengthens the idea that the fighter should be used in the film by the then veteran fighter pilot who will be interpreted by Tom Cruise.

In August, a film crew from the film recorded the daily life of the USS Abraham Lincoln, filming landings, takeoffs and the routines of each military member who works on a deck.
That month, the real title of the film was also announced, which will be called: TOP GUN: Maverick. Until recently, the film did not have a specific date for the release, but it is already starting to talk about June 26, 2020, but filming should start later this year.

Another fact linked to the film and a curiosity of Tom Cruise, was the visit of the American actor to the Lockheed Martin factory, where he saw the new 5th generation F-35 fighters. The actor arrived at the factory flying his own P-51 Mustang.
One of the actor's hobbies is flying planes and helicopters, since he has a license.
