With pictures: Two aircraft collide in flight in Denver in the USA

On the afternoon of this Wednesday (12) two aircraft collided in the air in Denver in the state of Colorado in the United States. One of the aircraft involved is a Swearingen SA-226 Metro II, registration N280KL operated by Key Lime Air.

The N280KL was on final approach to Denver Centennial Airport in the US at an altitude of 6.400 feet. The aircraft was authorized to land on runway 17L. The other aircraft, a Cirrus SR22, registration number N416DJ, was authorized to land on runway 17R, the single-engine aircraft was also approaching at 6.400 feet.

The two aircraft were at the same altitude and also flying north of Denver Centennial Airport. The Cirrus ended up hitting the Swearingen SA-226, immediately the right engine of the aircraft failed after the collision, the crew declared an emergency and managed to land the aircraft safely.

The Cirrus pilot activated the parachute and managed to touch the ground safely. There were two people on board the Cirrus, the Swearingen was only with the technical crew transporting cargo, there were no injuries.

The accident is being investigated by the NTSB.
