Textron Aviation continues talks with employees to end strike

After a three-week work stoppage in Wichita, Kansas, Textron Aviation and Local 774 (District 70) have decided to return to negotiations. The company said in a statement yesterday, October 8, that the new talks will begin on October 10, 2024, with the strike still in effect during that period. “We value our longstanding relationship with union leaders and and remain committed to collaborating and agreeing to a contract that recognizes the contributions of employees and sets us all up for long-term success,” said Maggie Topping, Textron’s senior vice president of Human Resources and Communications. Textron Aviation’s IAM Local 774 (District 70) in Wichita, Kansas, said it plans to discuss issues such as increased pay, health insurance and paid time off. On September 29, 2024, the union announced that the company would cut health insurance to striking employees starting September 30, 2024.</p> Earlier, on September 21, 2024, workers in Wichita vehemently rejected the company's final contract proposal and opted to strike.</p>
